Mid November

This month is going too fast.  I have been asked to teach Wednesday night at Church for next week.  I am looking forward to that.  I had the day off today and was able to mow our yard (hopefully for the last time this season).  I think that my riding mower is shot.  I am truly blessed because every time the mower has broke down, my Dad has always taken it in and gotten it fixed for us.  I think that with some of our tax refund money, we need to purchase a new one, or at least a push mower. We get so spoiled to having what we want and getting it.  But we can always look at it as blessings.  We have to understand that some of the stuff we want may not be want we need.  You know, God’s word says that we need to depend on the Lord for our every need.  But do we really do that?  No, we  (and I) see what we want and go get it.  You see, if we learn to give up everything and just let the Lord move, then he will.  We go to Church and we ask why do we not see the Lord move in our lives.  We hunger to hear from the Lord but we do not stop and listen.  We pray and ask but go on about doing what WE want to do.  Sometimes if we listen, we may not like what we hear.  We just don’t drop our worldly stuff and follow.  We say we depend on him and want a miracle.

My recommendation is that we fast.  We hear about all the stuff going on in Washington and the healthcare bill being passed to the next step and we get worried.  My 5 year old son summed it up nicely.  One night, my youngest daughter stated that she was scared.  My son then explained to her that there is no need to be scared because God is ALWAYS with us.  Give something up this week or for the next two weeks that you normally depend on.  Food, TV or whatever it might be.  Then give that time to the Lord.  Just stop during that time that you gain by giving something up and pray and listen what the Lord wants to tell you.  Let HIM guide you to get you through your times of need.

November Ramblings

It’s just not getting to the point where we have cool nights and not so hot days.  This is the first year in a while that we have actually has a slow transition between summer and fall.  I do have to say though, that it is rather warmer than normal.  Highs in the upper 60’s to lower 70’s and lows into the 40’s.  Not bad and not complaining.  I do love this kind of weather.  Just don’t want it to rain for a while so that the farmers can get their crops in.  Not sure what the Winter will bring though.  Notice how we start talking about the weather to break the ice and as a conversation starter?  Here we go.

Enjoyed Church this morning at the Bay United Methodist Church.  We visited there this morning because they were having a special Veterans service.  Pastor Angie had invited my family and I to come.  It was a touching service.  Thanks Pastor Angie for the invite, we always love coming to see everyone.

We also enjoyed Allison’s Birthday Party this weekend.  My how the kids are growing up.  My In-laws came for the weekend to be at the party.  It was fun for the kids and we did enjoy everyone.  Just tired after the party.

There are more things coming for the month and I will try to update again in a few day but we all know how that goes.  I use Windows Live Writer to do my posts and I see this link over to the side that says to upload video.  I might try the video thing later and post something on here.  Until then,  Thanks to everyone for staying tuned.  You can always follow me on Twitter or Facebook.  The links for Facebook is Here and you can also follow me on Twitter by clicking Here.

The Beginnings of Fall

It is hard to believe that it is already October.  The girls’ birthdays are this month which usually means we stay busy for the month.  Harvest Festival here in Bay is this weekend.  The good thing is that I am on vacation this week.  I have gotten a lot done around the house but still not finished yet.  The only other big thing that has to be completed before I head back to work is to install a new stove pipe for our wood stove and replace the damper in the pipe.  The weather is getting cooler here so we will need to get things ready for winter.  I hear that this winter is supposed to be colder and wetter than normal.  Things just don’t stay normal anymore when it comes to weather.  I can stand some snow but really don’t want the ice storm like we had last year.  We were the fortunate ones.  We were only out of power for about a week.  I am enjoying my week here at home.  My In-Laws have come to visit.  I enjoy them.  I finally have some one to share my coffee with.

October 6th is the run off elections for the Bay School Board.  I sure hope everyone gets out and votes.  I might have lost the primary election but there are still 2 other people that are running for the position that are more than capable to fill the position.  Becky Keith and Kevin Barnett.  Everyone has there reasons on who they will vote for.  I have my reasons of who I will vote for.  As I have said before, Both of these individuals would be excellent choices.  I will be casting my vote for Kevin Barnett.  I have known his family for a long time.  He has been a part of the Bay School system since he started Kindergarten and graduated there.  I graduated Bay Schools in 1985 with his Brother.  Whoever your choice may be, please cast your vote for your candidate.  Either way the election goes, We will all be winners.  Becky would do a good job, but just my personal preference, I will vote for Kevin.

I will be preaching again at Trinity Church on October 18th.  I will also be singing at the service too, which is a rarity. I will be singing with a friend of mine.  Michelle, I believe will be out of town that weekend.  If I sing, I normally sing with her.  I don’t sing by myself.  I am always excited when I get the opportunity to preach.  If you follow me on twitter (@jeffweir) you will se my profile which states that I am called to preach.  We all have a calling on our lives, but it is up to us to listen to the Lord for what direction we need to take.  Please join me on Sunday October 18th for an awesome, Lord Led service.    img014Please stay tuned.  There is more to come later.  God Bless!!

The Wonderings of September

P4050020

The weather has been so awesome the last few days.  I have really enjoyed it.  This is the beginning of our busy month.  So many things going on.  The NEA District Fair is this month on top of all of the meetings at school.  Open house for the Elementary, PHT meeting and also the Bay High School Career and Technical Education Advisory Council meeting, the Election for School Board coming up on the 15th, the Elementary Book Fair and also Bradley’s night out at the end of the month by going to the Disney Live show at the Convocation Center.  I hope to be able to take Vacation towards the end of the month into the first week of October to recover.  Then In October is the Birthdays for the girls and the Bay Harvest Festival (which I always enjoy).

I really enjoyed preaching at Trinity Church in August.  I have been asked to teach the singles class next Sunday at Trinity, so that should be exciting.  Things have been really busy at work.  We had an awesome last quarter that ended in August.  Now we have a lot of promos running and the Team is all excited about our increase.  We even get a full quarterly bonus.  That does tend to excite everyone on the team.

The kids are really enjoying school.  Bradley has done so well in Kindergarten.  He goes to bed early with no problems because he plays so much and stays so busy at school.  Then he is up early and ready to go back.  That’s my boy, Always doing and wanting to go somewhere.  I just love the picture above of him.  We took this picture of him playing in the creek behind my in-laws house in Hector (just outside of Russellville).  They have a beautiful place there.  I am really looking forward to them coming for a visit.  It is so beautiful at there place during the fall.  Maybe we can get back down there in the fall again and try to take some pictures of the kids and maybe get Michelle’s sister, Angela to take some pictures of all of us.

God is truly awesome.  He always meets our needs and takes care of us.  How wonderful to know that Jesus died on the cross for all of us.  Not just me and not just for my family, but for each and everyone of us.  As I have learned in the past few weeks, we don’t need to be moved by circumstances.  Just like Elijah prayed for rain and his servant didn’t see any, He continued to pray and the Lord answered.  We just need to diligently seek him in everything we do and do that every day.  Not just on Sundays and when we are at Church but in our everyday lives.  I guess I am really preaching to myself on this one because it is so easy to just follow a routine and do what we want to do but we (I) have to discipline ourselves (myself) to stay in his word and KNOW the truth about every situation.

Jeff Weir for Bay School Board

Proof.ashx

Election Day is September 15th and coming up fast. There are two other people besides myself that are running for The Bay School Board position. All three of us would make a great member to the school board but I want to tell you more about myself and what sets me apart from the rest.

I grew up here in Bay and have attended Bay Public Schools from Kindergarten through the 12th grade. I am a 1985 graduate of Bay High School. I have 3 children that attend Bay Schools. Lexi who is in the 6th grade, Allison who is in the 3rd grade and Bradley who is in Kindergarten. My wife’s name is Michelle. She is a regular volunteer at Bay Elementary. My parents names are Gene and Norma Weir also of Bay. My Mother retired from the Bay public schools after serving 20 Years as the School Food Service Director. She taught me the importance of giving back to the community and that is exactly what I want to do. I started that journey shortly after High School by joining the U.S. Navy. I currently serve as President of the Bay PHT (Parents Helping Teachers) at Bay Elementary and have been asked to serve on the Bay High School Career and Technical Education Advisory Council. I am employed by FedEx Office in Jonesboro as the Assistant Manager.

The right person for this position needs to be able and willing to make themselves available to the community and to the parents of the students who attend Bay Public Schools as well as to the faculty. I know that I am that person who will listen and act. This position is not just about myself and my family. It is a lot bigger than that. It is about everyone in the community and about all of the children here that deserve not just an education but receive the Best that we all can give so that they can have many opportunities to be the next leaders in our Community and in our Country. I would like to have this opportunity to serve on the Bay School Board so that all of our voices can be heard. So that we all can put back into the school that has put us where we are today. The Bay Public School System plays a very vital role in our community and with me on the School Board, We can make a Difference.

Thank you for your Vote on September 15th.

Beginning of School

P7170063

Off To a Good Start

The kids seem to have gotten off to a good start this year with school.  They really enjoy it.  The Sunday before school started, I woke Bradley up and told him it was time to wake up and get ready for Church.  We lazed around a little and yawned.  I also told him that it would be just a few days and he would be getting up early each morning to get ready for school every day.  He then asked, “Daddy, will it ever be summer again”.

The girls seem to like school ok this year too.  You know, they are at that age where they don’t say much about it.  Busy school year this year though since I am the President of PHT.  I am excited about what we can do as a group for the teachers and student at our school.  I am also running for School Board this year.  The election is on September 15th.  That is less than a month away.  This is the first time I have ever run for anything.   I am a little excited.

August

P7170078

It has been a Lazy summer. It has been cooler than most other summers that I can remember and it has also been the wettest that I can remember. This is the first year that I can remember that cotton hasn’t been planted next to our house. I say it has been a lazy summer but I just haven’t had time to do anything it seems. I get off work and all I want to do is just sit around and be lazy. I want to go fishing with Bradley or play golf but just never have enough time. There is so much work to do around here at the house. I am tired of it looking like white trash around the house but it is just hard when you have a brother that has pigs at our house and he also has the chickens too. He doesn’t have enough time for them either so they just suffer. Oh but don’t misunderstand, he feeds them but I guess if they were mine I would do thing different. But if they were mine, I would get rid of them. Pigs do really stink. I sit and here my self talk or hear my thoughts and realize that I keep saying I want, I want, I need, I need. What I want and need should be what the Lord has already provided me with. I am truly blessed. I have a good job. I guess I just need a vacation.

There are so many things that I want to do. One thing I do want to do, I will be doing on August 9th. In one more week. PREACHING!! I am so excited about that. Maybe a little nervous though because I have only preached at Churches where there were about 25 people. Next Sunday, I will be preaching in front of about 200 or so people. AAAHHH!!! But I can do all thing through Christ Jesus. I am also running for Bay School Board. I have some good competition. The reason why I am running for School Board is that I want to serve the community and the kids. I have 3 kids that are now in school at Bay, and I went to school there from Kindergarten to the 12th grade. It’s an awesome school and am proud that my kids are going there.

And with that, I say Good Night.

Finally Making Headway

It is a good feeling to work in the yard.  I finally made time because I never had any to spare, to be able to work in the yard today.  With the help of my brother, We were able to scrape our yard to where there is not as big of lumps.  You see, we have had a mess in our yard since we have had to tear out our septic lines and run new ones.  I have a friend that is supposed to come towards the end of the week with his tractor and box blade to smooth it all out but My wonderful brother borrowed a backhoe this evening and we were able to really smooth things out and also burn some piles of rubbish that has been piling up.  Michelle seems to be satisfied.  Her statement tonight was “ there is hope”.  There is so much that needs to be done to this house but things are just too expensive it seems.  I would love to get our yard all straightened up and even plant some flower beds but we first need to paint the house.  Michelle has been really busy with the kids this summer but today, she even painted the front door.  It looks great.  I need to keep pushing myself to get some things done around here.  It does make one feel better about what you have.

It’s that time of Year

img002 Here it is, the middle of June.  We just got home from Homecoming at Apt Church.  It was good to see old friends.  We enjoyed the food and fellowship along with the singing.  What a wonderful bunch of folks.  It is funny how things change over time.  This time last year, I was the Pastor at that Church and now we have gone to a different church and just became members there.  I am scheduled to preach at Trinity Church (that’s were we just became members) on August 9th at the Sunday morning service.  I am excited.  I am excited what the Lord has in store for us in the rest of this year.

It’s that time of year where we get busy.  The kids are out of school.  Lexi is getting ready to go with her Daddy Aaron for a week.  We are getting ready to take a trip to my In-Laws house for a 3 day weekend.  I am sure that before school starts back that Michelle and the kids will go to Russellville again for a week.  Michelle will be substitute teaching at the school hopefully when school starts back.  I have the vacation time to take but really don’t think I will get the time to take it since we are short staffed but can’t hire anyone.  I can save it up until next year I guess.  Next year, we really need to make plans to go on a cruise for a vacation.  I hear that it is wonderful.

The video below

I have also posted the video below on my face book but thought that it was so awesome that it needed to be posted here too since it meant so much to me. I have to be honest here. I first saw this video and yes, I did cry. I didn't cry because I was sad. I cried because I was touched that people care about someone like they seemed to in the video. This is the way that we need to act towards one another. We don't need to act this way just to those with special needs or to just kids. we need to show this kind of love and compassion towards one another. No one specific but to EVERYONE. I see so many children in schools today that are treated differently because they just are not like everyone else. I see kids that are treated differently because someone just doesn't like them for whatever reason. If we can teach our kids at home the importance of compassion and love towards one another then maybe this treatment will stop. It's not about being popular. It's about doing what is right weather it is the popular way or not. It's about caring for one another whether you know that person or not. It should be all about JESUS and reaching out to the lost so that they too may have everlasting life. We will all have our differences whether in opinion or interpretation but we still can love one another and have the compassion like these kids do in the video. Hold each other up. Lift each other up in prayer. Don't let your fellow man fall and be left. HAVE COMPASSION!!!

The Mayonnaise Jar

When things in your life seem, Almost too much to handle,
When 24 Hours in a day is not enough,
Remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class

And had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly,
He picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
And proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students, if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.

He then asked the students again
If the jar was full... They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand

And poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded
With an unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced Two cups of coffee from under the table
And poured the entire contents Into the jar, effectively
Filling the empty space between the sand.
The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor, As the laughter subsided,
'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life..
The golf balls are the important things - God, family,
children, health, friends, and favorite passions -

Things that if everything else was lost

And only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter Like your job, house, and car.

The sand is everything else --
The small stuff.

'If you put the sand into the jar first,' He continued,
'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
You will never have room for the things that are
Important to you.

So...

Pay attention to the things That are critical to your happiness.
Playwith your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.

There will always be time
To clean the house and fix the disposal.

'Take care of the golf balls first --
The things that really matter.
Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand
And inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled.
'I'm glad you asked'.

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'

Amazing

It's amazing. It has been a long time since I have posted on my blog and the last time I did that was when my wife made me. I have been so busy but haven't we all. I have been going to school, working full time and so much more it seems. I am preparing this weekend for my mid terms. It has been Very hard going back to school and working full time. I am taking about 12 hours this semester but plan on taking the summer off from school at least and then starting back again in the fall. I will be so proud of myself when I finally get my Associate of Arts degree. But that only be my first step. I have never written so many papers in my life. I know this is short but just wanted to keep you posted on what is going on. Michelle and the kids are doing wonderful. I am sure that Michelle will be glad when I am done with school. Bless her heart, she has been doing everything around the house (not that I ever helped before) I won't go into much detail because I am sure that Michelle will making a post on her blog shortly now that she might have a little more time on her hands.

One of the greatest highlights of 2008 was for me to have my Brother come in from Canada for Christmas. He had to go through a lot to get here but was able to make it here. After it was all said and done and time for him to head back home to Canada, he went through a lot to get back across the border. He is now safe, back at home. We Love you Buba. Tell Sandy and all we said we Love them too.

This is for My Wife

Your right Honey, I needed to update my blog. It has been a while. I would post pictures for folks to see but my Wife stole them all and posted them on "HER" Blog and Face book.
Here it is the New Year. New Years Day to be exact and I am not doing much of anything today. I slept very good last night or at least I feel much more rested. I picked up my CPAP machine yesterday afternoon and used it for the first time last night. It was different and will take some time to get used to it. I woke up a few times in the night because of the noise of it. Michelle said she heard it a few times in the night when it started blowing harder. The machine I have is called an Auto CPAP because it adjust to the pressure needed to open the airways. Hopefully the more I use it, the more better I will feel.
Well, who had new years resolutions out there? Not me, because it might just fail. But I do plan on getting closer to God and Family this year. A lot of things have changed over the past year. I pastored a Church for about 6 months, The economy has gone downhill and all of that. But I know that if we all keep our eyes on God, that he will take care of us. The key to that is making sure that we involve God in everything we do. That we let him guide us and direct us. That we pray and ask that he shows us what he wants us to do. But also we need to be more in his Word. We will all here many different things from many different people this year. But if it is not in God's Word, then it just ain't so. I get tired of the Preachers today that preach "the times". The Word is what needs to be preached today, more than ever. Folks get excited about hearing Prophets of today and what is being predicted for this year. In the past year, I have heard "Prophets" say that before the end of the year that the Christians will prosper financially, but I now have to ask what happened? I didn't get it! But now all of a sudden those same "Prophets" are saying "oh, but we first have to go through some things before we get it and that times might be tough. My reply to that is "How convenient"!. I am not worried about what might take place in this world. Yes, I will be watching along with everyone else, but I will not worry becasue I know who my Source is and that is the Lord, Jesus Christ.
